ART ON PAPER

art on paper is a unique art fair running during Armory Week in New York City that only shows paper-based work.  It's one of the most beloved Art Market fairs and there is a lot of anticipation for this year's edition.  There are a lot of innovative uses of paper in this fair, including an unexpected amount of 3d work, and I wanted to highlight the tactile nature of the work shown.  I sourced a lot of very textured artwork from exhibitors and designed an elegant and restrained branding system around it.

MIAMI PROJECT 5

MIAMI PROJECT 5

Miami Project is a popular art fair that runs during Art Basel week in Miami every December.  The fifth edition was taking a different direction in terms of concept and execution so a total rebrand was in order to distinguish it both from its previous iterations and the many competing fairs that exhibit during Art Basel.  The brand's original concept was extremely modern and minimalist, intended to complement the outrageous angular architecture and horizontal lines of 1111 Lincoln Road (the famed carpark designed by Herzog & de Meuron).  When the venue was suddenly changed to the much more somber 6625 Indian Creek Drive, I began integrating more diverse and colorful exhibitor artwork into the campaign to add interest and whimsy to the sparse but elegant branding.

I had the privilege of designing this fair from top to bottom, from the rebranding effort to the staff tee shirts.

TEXAS CONTEMPORARY

TEXAS CONTEMPORARY

texas contemporary is an annual fair of modern and contemporary art that celebrates the rich local art scene of Houston every fall. The total rebrand of the fair was intended to provide a sophisticated backdrop to the dynamic and whimsical art that is exhibited there. My goal was to take inspiration from the fair's surroundings: all the way from the iconic Texas landscape down to the wacky postmodern architecture of the venue. This inspiration lives in the brand's rich, warm palette and the gentle slopes of its geometry.

The nature of my position allowed me to design and produce this project from soup to nuts, creating everything from the branding guide to the bathroom signs. I worked side-by-side with the on-staff architect to translate the branding throughout the space, resulting in an airy, sophisticated layout. I also helped source and coordinate many of the installations in the fair, allowing me to fulfill my vision of playful artworks juxtaposed against the elegant visual language of the brand.

MARKET ART + DESIGN

MARKET ART + DESIGN

Market art + design is a beautiful contemporary and modern art fair that occurs annually in the Hamptons.  The Hamptons fairs tend to have a more casual, summery feel than other fairs and often show more decorative art.  I chose "Rudder" by New York artist Jen Wink Hays as the centerpiece of the campaign, and other iterations of her gouache and pen work grace all aspects of the fair's brand, creating a unified feel.

ART MARKET SAN FRANCISCO

ART MARKET SAN FRANCISCO

Art Market San Francisco is a contemporary and modern art fair that visits San Francisco's Fort Mason every spring.  I was brought into this project after the basic parameters of the fair brand had been established, so my primary duties were producing assets and cleaning up the branding to be as clean and sharp as possible.  Art Market San Francisco is known as a fair put on by New Yorkers, so the brand really reflects that urban feel.
